FAQ

Where will our session take place?

That’s up to you! I offer both on-location (at your home, a favorite park, or just around the neighborhood) and in-home studio sessions where I bring an assortment of studio gear to your location. If you need help choosing a location for your session, just let me know. I have lots of ideas! Get in touch and let me know what you have in mind!

What’s included in your Session Fee?

  • Photography of up to two dogs at a single location of your choice. Additional dogs can be added for $25 each. For groups of more than four dogs please inquire for group/day rates. Additional locations can be added for $50 each.
  • Travel to your location (up to 35 miles from Downtown Dallas, $2 per mile thereafter).
  • One-on-one, in-home proofing and ordering session scheduled 1-2 weeks after your photo session.
  • Your dog’s very own feature on the fetch. blog.
  • Access to your own private site in my Client Services area where you’ll be able to view product options, confirm scheduling, review policies and submit a fun questionnaire about your pet(s).

Please note that session fee is for photographer’s time and talent only, including professional editing and retouching. No printed products are included in the Session fee.

My in-home studio sessions include both studio and indoor or outdoor lifestyle coverage (weather permitting).

What if my dog is nuts and won’t sit still? Will you still be able to get good shots?

Absolutely. While a well-trained and well-behaved dog certainly makes life easier, it is by no means a prerequisite that your dog is calm, cool and collected. I capture dogs being themselves – and if that means “running around like a lunatic” then that’s what I’ll shoot (and we’ll all have lots of fun while doing it!). Plus, I have a few tricks up my sleeve to grab the attention of even the most wily critter. That said, if your pet is a little bit on the “insane” side of the coin, it might be a good idea to go for a brisk walk 30 minutes to an hour before our scheduled session to work out some of that energy.

What if my dog needs to stay on a leash during an outdoor session?

Your pup’s safety is the #1 priority, so if we’re in a busy, unfenced area with a dog who hasn’t quite mastered behaving around distractions, it’s completely understandable that you’d want to keep him or her leashed, and that is absolutely fine! I can remove leashes in post-production, so you’ll never even know they were there! If you’ll be keeping your dog leashed during the session, I highly recommend using a Flexi leash if possible (the cords are thin and blend into the background easier). Take a look around my portfolio – about half of the dogs there were leashed for their shots.

What if the weather doesn’t cooperate?

For outdoor lifestyle sessions, inclement weather can certainly put a damper on our fun. If the weather isn’t cooperating and I don’t feel confident that I’ll be able to get the best shots of your furry friend, we’ll simply reschedule for a better day or (on some occasions) pick a different location.

What gear do you use?

Check out this list to see all the stuff I don’t leave home without (and a few of Bruce and Maddie’s favorite things, as well!)

Do you ever schedule sessions outside the Dallas / Ft Worth Metroplex?

I’m happy to travel to you! My travel rates range from $450-$850 (depending on the number of sessions booked in your location), and I typically like to schedule a minimum of 3 sessions before embarking on my journey.  So, if you’re interested in a fetch. session but don’t live in Dallas, get a few of your friends together and we’ll have a blast! I do occasionally offer sessions in Austin and Houston at my normal session rate when I’m in town. If you’re located in one of these cities, give me a buzz and I’ll let you know the next time I’m making a trip down South.

I read somewhere that you do volunteer work with rescue groups and shelters. What’s that about?

You read right! I am thrilled to be able to give back to shelters and rescue programs that do so much to promote education, well being, spay/neuter initiatives and responsible pet ownership. My work with shelters and breed rescue groups is 100% volunteer based. Why do I do it? Simple: because I love animals and I am fortunate enough to be in a position to help them find their forever homes. There are so many abused, neglected and abandoned pets on the streets and in shelters today, and so many rescue groups who are fighting that uphill battle – I’m happy to do what I can to help support their cause. I offer photoshoots of available animals as my schedule allows, and am also happy to donate sessions to silent auctions or fundraising events in many cases.

As an added bonus to you, the adoptive parent, I offer a 20% discount on my Session Fee as well as a 20% discount on the entire print/product order to anyone who adopts or fosters from a Rescue group that I volunteer with.

If you are involved with a Rescue group or shelter and would benefit from my services, please don’t hesitate to contact me. As much as I’d like to, I unfortunately am unable to assist in every case, but I’m happy to add you to my list of shelters or rescue groups and will contact you as openings are available.

Do you photograph other animals besides dogs?

You name it, I’ll be happy to photograph it. Horses, cats, reptiles, exotics, birds, cows, rodents….well, you get my point. I love all animals. Yes, even spiders…Okay, I’m not a big fan of bees and wasps…But who has those as pets (if you seriously do, I will still photograph them…probably…from a distance…maybe).

Do you shoot Weddings? Babies? Senior Portraits? My son’s soccer game?

My background is Fine Art and Fashion photography; while it’s not typically a service I offer to non-commercial clients, I have definitely been known to photograph people of all ages. Get in touch if you’re interested in viewing samples of non-pet work.

These questions are awesome but I have one that isn’t covered here.

No worries. Shoot me an email and I’ll be happy to answer any questions you might have (both before and after your session. I would say “before, during and after”, but how weird would it be if you emailed me during our session?).
