12 months of Maddie

Today is someone’s birthday.

In honor of her special day, here’s a little tribute to Maddsters, the best Boston Terrier in the land, in the form of a photo of her taken each month this year. Some of these you’ll recognize from previous blog posts, but others (hint: this month’s) are making their blog debut.

Happy Birthday, Madds!

Meet Rocco and Bailey

I recently had the pleasure of taking part in a super top-secret holiday surprise session with two fantastic pups, Rocco (a hilarious and athletic Border Collie/Great Dane mix) and his big sis Bailey (an adorable Chow mix of one sort or another who may or may not be part Teddy Bear).

Rocco and Bailey’s mom is planning quite a surprise for their dad on Christmas morning, so if you recognize these two clowns keep a lid on it!

Here are a couple of highlights from their session:

Their session started out at the softball field near their home, where Rocco demonstrated his ability to jump 8+ feet in the air after a tennis ball, and Miss Bailey spent some quality time investigating the lens (and the bag of treats stashed nearby).

After the fun, the pups were ready for their close-ups and we headed back home to set up a mini studio. (By the way: in-home studio sessions are something that I’ll be offering more frequently now. If this is something you might be interested in, look for a post with more information about these coming up soon!)

Thanks Lauren for choosing me as your partner in crime for Operation Top Secret Photo Shoot!

Project 52 Photo Challenge : Best of the Week (37/52)

Yikes, I’ve been slacking on the Project 52 posts this month. This week’s theme was super easy, though — pick your favorite photo from the week and post it up!

I took Maddie out to the front yard to enjoy the fall colors on Wednesday. She wasn’t a huge fan of all the leaves, but I think she did secretly enjoy getting to sit in the middle of the street while I took that first photo.

Up next in the blog ring we have Anthony Helton. Take it away, Anthony!

Project 52 Photo Challenge : Wild Sightings (33/52)

This week’s Project 52 challenge asked us to photograph an animal other than a dog (or cat, or other domestic friend), and turn our lenses to the wild critters that roam our neighborhoods, zoos and parks. Fun times!

So, without any further suspense, this is Sergio (not to be confused with Mike, my other toad friend who made his blog debut this spring). He hangs out on my patio most evenings, and is pretty friendly. Last night he graciously allowed me to grab a few shots of him with my favorite vintage 55mm 1.2FL lens before hopping back into the bushes.

Next up, check out Stephanie Madeline‘s blog to see what wild critter she captured this week…

Project 52 Photo Challenge : iPhone (32/52)

This week’s Project 52 theme was iPhone, wherein we had to, um, take an iPhone  photo of our pets. What better way to do that than to take an iPhone photo of an iPhone photo? It’s like magic……

Next up, let’s see how Ann Kearns used her iPhone this week…

Project 52 Photo Challenge : Chilled Out (31/52)

This week’s Project 52 challenge (Chilled Out) asked us to snap a photo of our dogs, well…chilling. Maddie is an enthusiastic relaxer, and usually spends her afternoons sunbathing in the back yard…on her back with her feet up in the air like a cockroach. Since she also has what I like to call a little bit of a “weight” “problem” she often gets stuck out there when she can’t roll back over onto her belly, prompting a rescue mission as she wildly flails her legs around while trying to make it look like she’s just scratching her back (and de-thatching the St Augustine in the process — bonus for me).

Up next in the blog ring is Steph Skardal — let’s see how her pups like to chill…
