Wide Angle Madness

So, apparently it’s Summer here in Dallas. At least for the weekend.

I recently realized that it’s been a while since I put Mr. Bruce in front of the camera (he’s turned into a bit of a diva, and I can now scarcely afford his exorbitant Day Rate), so in celebration of the lovely weather, I got the pups outside to test out some new gear, including a Tokina 16-28mm ultra wide-angle lens, which I think I might love even more than the Canon 16-35 L. This one’s a keeper.

Pretty soon it’ll be too hot for Bruce, but he seemed to enjoy the weather (and the snacks) this morning.

Dana Cubbage - Ooohh I love those shots! I’m going to need a wide angle zoom at some point and might have to seriously consider the Tokina instead of the Canon :)April 6, 2012 – 3:16 pm

Claire - Dana, you should try out the Tokina. I’ve had both the Tokina and the Canon, and they are both great lenses; the image quality is really identical in the Tokina, for a few hundred dollars less, and the Tokina is actually a bit heavier and more solid feeling than the Canon. The only downside is that it doesn’t take filters.

Are you on a 7D or a 5D? Crop sensors unfortunately won’t get you the ultra-wide look at 16mm; for 7D shooters I’d say go with the Tokina 11-16mm instead (also an awesome lens).April 6, 2012 – 3:29 pm

Joanna Reichert - The Tokina is my next lens, for sure. Glad to see you love it so far – I’m always iffy about 3rd party lenses. Great pics, as always!July 8, 2012 – 1:35 am
